LYTHE is a small independent family-run pottery studio in St Albans, Hertfordshire.
We make tactile stoneware for the quieter parts of everyday life: morning coffee, supper around the table, candles lit as the evening draws in.
Every piece is shaped, glazed and fired by hand in our small studio. Variations in form, surface and glaze are part of the making, so no two pieces leave the kiln quite the same.
The name LYTHE evokes the sheltered side — the lee, out of the wind. It describes the feeling we want our pieces to bring: warmth, calm and a sense of being at home.
Made slowly and in small numbers, each piece is intended to be used often and kept for years.
